New York hearts Jon Tester.
A report of the budgetary brouhaha in the House Appropriations Committee: it’s all Sinrud’s fault, apparently. I’m shocked.
The Education Committee is ticked, because the GOP budget cuts $100 million from education; the Democrats are p*ssed, because the GOP budget ignores the state’s rapidly growing prison population; human services advocates are irked because…well…there’s some stuff missing from the budget.
The House endorsed restricting funeral protests.
The Gazette urges House members to pass initiative reform before they blow the roof off of the legislature.
Group of progressives formed by disgruntled Democrats.
Jeff Mangan thinks the state’s new progressive group will further alienate moderates. I admit I was a little curious about the timing and purpose of the group…
Colby is less hostile to the group, but wary.
Harold Meyerson on conservatives’ culture war for family values: “Problem is, disperse a vibrant working-class community in America and you disperse the vibrant working-class family. Which is how American conservatism became the primary author of the very social disorder that it routinely rails against, and that Republicans have the gall to run against.”
Two attorneys are suing the US government for being wiretapped without a warrant under NSA’s illegal program.
The LA Times was – literally – spooked off the story of AT&T’s Internet spying on behalf of the government. Shame!
That stockmarket crash may actually be a crash…
Thanks, righties, for pointing out the hypocrisy of William Jefferson’s appointment on the House Homeland Security Committee. It’s been put on “permanent hold.”
How appropriate: CIA’s illegal rendition project “interrogated” suspects in former Nazi- and Soviet-“intelligence” compound in Poland.
Latest in the “prosecutor purge”: fired US attorney testifies that he was “pressured” by New Mexico Republicans, Sen. Pete Domenici and Rep. Heather Wilson to bring indictments against Democrats.
Attorney General, Alberto Gonzalez, explains why the prosecutors were fired: “…[the] U.S. attorneys [were] not executing their responsibilities in a manner that further[ed] the management and policy goals of departmental leadership…” Kossak and old friend mcjoan explains what those “policy goals” were…
Libby convicted, Fox spins…and spins…and spins…does anyone still believe these *sshats aren’t the official mouthpiece of the US GOP?
Here’s another Bush administration scandal: apparently the chief of the General Services Administration, Lurita Alexis Doan, wanted to give out no-bid contracts to her cronies.
The Bush impeachment movement is grassroots and at the state level…Kossak Kagro X writes up a great review of Vermont’s impeachment drive.
Bush administration screw-ups: “it’s not the idiocy, it’s the ideology.”
Jon Stewart on Walter Reed…again!
Maher v O’Reilly on Maher’s Cheney remarks. Turns out he never wished Cheney were dead…surprise!
Colbert on the Libby conviction…

“does anyone still believe these *sshats aren’t the official mouthpiece of the US GOP?”
Gee one *sshat for the GOP and all the rest of the *sshats, you count them, for democrats. Seems fair to me since FOX has all these other *sshats beat all to hell and the ratings show it. Jealous as all get out, huh?

Just think of FOX as Al Jazeera West.

Ah come on, Mark, pass the joint, you’ve had it long enough….

Of course Maher never said Cheney was dead, but Ann Coulter didn’t say Edwards was gay either. They both alluded to that, but never outright said it. Thats what in between the lines are for.
