Dillard’s in Missoula Closing?
by jhwygirl
I got a call from a friend in Kallispell, who’s mother lives here, who told her that Dillard’s is closing, and that Kohl’s is going in its place. My friend in Kallispell has a connection to Kohl’s, and she knows that they are delaying their new Kallispell store for at least a year.
Now, over the last couple months, this blog has had a number of searches (we have a stats summary page which includes incoming searches – and yes, don’t worry folks, we also have no way of tracking back to figure out who you all are) for “dillards closing missoula”. Now, I did a post a while back listing businesses that had stores closing, and it came from a news story that mentioned a number of Dillard’s closing after the holidays. So I thought those searches were merely hitting here because this is a blog that mentions Missoula a whole hell of a lot.
So – anyone else hear this? I know Dillard’s was pretty dead as a doornail in terms of Christmas traffic – at least every time I went driving by.
At least – if what I’ve heard is correct – something else is coming in its place. Perhaps they end up hiring most of the Dillard’s people?

I suppose people here will be pretty happy that a Democratic Senator owns the chain that’s taking its place.

After Kohl fired Krysko, I believe he became persona non grata in this town.

Worst coach ever.

Debatable. But that still doesn’t mediate people’s feelings about Kohl.

No, I know. I don’t have any feelings about people’s feelings about Kohl. I don’t like Kohl myself, but I like him more than that assclown that somehow ended up running the Milwaukee Bucks.

I say why go Kohl’s, when you can go totally old school Wisconsin department store: H.C. Prange Company!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._C._Prange_Co.
Mr. Prange lived in Sheboygan and that’s where the first Pragne’s store was, a few blocks from Lake Michigan.
If you ever want to speak Wisconsin to someone, you can use this knowledge to form a decent sentence:
“Hey, let’s go down der to Prange’s down by da lake, once.”
My grandpa was the manager of the H.C. Prange Department store in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin during the 1950s to 1970s. Sturgeon Bay also happens to be the hometown of Supermontanareporter John S. Adams.

It is not suprising to see another large business in the Missoula Mall coming or going. While Southgate is a great mall it is quite expensive to do business there.
I have seen very little advertising from Dillards. We seem to get more Kohl’s advertising in Missoula.
