A Deal with the Devil

Robert Reich said all that needs to be said about the negotiations between the White House and PhRMA:
It’s bad enough when industry lobbyists extract concessions from members of Congress, which happens all the time. But when an industry gets secret concessions out of the White House in return for a promise to lend the industry’s support to a key piece of legislation, we’re in big trouble.
That’s called extortion: An industry is using its capacity to threaten or prevent legislation as a means of altering that legislation for its own benefit. And it’s doing so at the highest reaches of our government, in the office of the President.
“We’re on a precarious road — and wherever it leads, it’s not toward democracy.”
So who’s the devil?

the entire two party political system is the devil……and right now special interests and corporate lobbyists run the show.
we have not had government of the people for at least 20 years….but rest assured this corrupt system is propped up with flimsy two by fours. it will only last as long as china is willing to cash our iou’s. when the checks start bouncing, chaos will ensue….and this western facade of a propped up economy will come down like the fictional town of rock ridge in blazing saddles.
