Gratitude

by lizard

It’s always nice to have one’s efforts appreciated. I think it’s safe to say, from all us b-birder’s here at 4&20, thank you very much for voting for us in this year’s Best of Missoula edition of the Indy. And for a bit of fun, I wrote up a little ditty below the fold. Enjoy.

POEM

Thank you thank you readers
For liking what we do—
Even though it sometimes looks like
Monkey’s flinging poo

But it’s a tough, mean world for blackbirds
And other creatures of the earth
Like problembears and lizards
And consonant girls from ’burgh

And imagine being an atheist
Like my good pal Duganz
Or imagine carfreestupidity
Biking joyously across the land

So sometimes we get feisty
Like that wily extremist JC
Who has the gall of principal
That trumps party loyalty

It’s a tough, mean world for anyone
Without the clout of cash
The kind that rots our politics
And causes the holy market to crash

But not every space is bleak
And not every public official, bought
And not every word sucked clean of meaning
Like freedom, terrorist, shopping

There’s Big Sky space to marvel at
And rivers to defend
From corporate cash-drunk raiders
Who think the party will never end

But nothing lasts forever
And the only constant, change
Is a force no human can control
Or in the end, escape

  1. Kudos to you guys I think it is great!

  2. I love it.

Yes. Thank you Missoula and Montana and everyone beyond who participates daily or weekly or whenever they have the opportunity to engage here.

I know I feel fortunate to be in the shadow of skilled experienced writers like you and JC and pb and Duganz. Carfree inspires me with his advocacy. And I miss Pete – I hope he is enjoying his time off.

Leslie? Appalachiafreedom? I look forward to much more from both of them too.

It’s a great village we have here. Today’s kudos from the Missoula Indy made my day.

  3. Pete Talbot

Congratulations. Well deserved. I miss you guys and gals.

All those things I was going to accomplish during my sabbatical? Hah!

Blogs and bloggers ebb and flow, but this site has remained relevant, lively and, thank god, controversial. Keep up the great work.
