donations shrink as food banks fill with people

by problembear

as the recession advances into fall,  food banks accross America are struggling to find enough food to provide emergency relief to increasing crowds of clients. NPR covered this tonight on All Things Considered. as unemployment increases it will only get worse. wherever you live- do what you can.

ways to help:

donate food

if you can afford it, write a check even if it is only $ 5.00 and send it to your local food bank.

if you can donate time- volunteer. even two hours a month will enrich your life.

not sure where to help? this link will help you.

  1. I have been thinking about just this topic, problembear, for the last couple of days. Holidays are coming up, money is tight. Will some families have to go without a Thanksgiving Day celebration?

I put a link over under Citizen’s Info for readers to donate to the Missoula Food Bank. Like you said, even $5.00 would help.

This month Town Pump is matching donations to food banks at any of their locations — money donated via Town Pump will be matched by the company and the entire amount stays in the area where it was donated so money donated in Missoula is matched in Missoula. They do this every year, and it’s a great way to make your money go further.
