Fawn Killed by Trapper’s Snare

by jhwygirl

I spoke of this fawn I came upon in early October here and here.

Here is the picture. The sheepherder trapper that did this never did report it, as I had followed up on about 2 weeks later. It should have had a quick release. Beyond that, in the particulars of this situation, he was breaking the law.

That fawn could just as easily had been my pet, my friend’s pet, or a neighbor’s pet.

Yeah. Keep that trapping tradition alive. NOT.

What, are you trying to attract more trolls?

Hey, I’ve set traps – for mice. I’m not gonna pretend it was humane. No doubt the mice who died in my traps suffered before their deaths.

But at least I didn’t do it for fun.

  2. Pronghorn

Hey jhwygirl, you staged that, right? Wrung that little fawn’s neck and laid her out in a snare for a photo op, right? Geez, I KNEW it!!!

Jim Lang, you can buy mouse-sized live traps from Havahart http://www.havahart.com/resources/trap-guide and other suppliers. (We purchased ours locally.) They work–we get the mice out, they don’t suffer, and we don’t accrue bad karma by taking their lives. It’s win-win, as they say!

Umm, I don’t get it… let’s say I caught a live mouse… then what am I supposed to do with it? Find it a new home?

  4. Pronghorn

Yes, you release them unharmed, preferably where they won’t find their way back. Then you try to find where they’re getting in and block their access.

  5. We solved our mouse problem with ‘live traps’, but my beloved prefers to call them ‘cats’.

What sad needless deaths…all of them.
