Her family’s final request

I read the obit of a distant acquaintance in today’s Missoulian. She was six months younger than me.  Cancer took her way too early, at 54-years-old. 

I know Marcia Trotter’s sisters and brother better than I knew Marcia.  It’s a large, well-known Missoula Family.

It’s sad news but the final line in the obit really caught my eye:

To honor Marcia’s memory, her family requests that you support universal health care.

Got that Denny, Max and Jon?

    max can’t hear you. he’s golfing and fly-fishing with his lobbyist campaign contributors in big sky this weekend pete-he’s taking orders from them….at $2500.00 a pop. i wonder-do you get fries with that???

    john boehner calls the shots for denny…

    and nobody can find tester to talk to him about this..

    Golf and fish all ya want Max. Many cancer patients will be saved by early detection and through advanced MRI”s and prompt attention not available in other national care countries.

    Passing liberal care would increase death rates with delayed diagnosis.

    Don’t believe me Google it.

    wow, what a fantastic comment from BS. it’s almost (note, i said almost) enough to make you wish these folks trying to simply kill health reform would simultaneously lose their health insurance and get a terminal disease.

    it’s beyond bad taste, BS, and in regards to your party, it’s suicide to oppose what over 70% of the people in this country.

    if you want to google something, BS, try looking up a comparative analysis of infant mortality rates among developed countries. that is, if you want to actually inform yourself, which i doubt is the case.

      I took your advice Liz, this is what I found.

      While the United States reports every case of infant mortality, it has been suggested that some other developed countries do not. A 2006 article in U.S. News & World Report claims that “First, it’s shaky ground to compare U.S. infant mortality with reports from other countries. The United States counts all births as live if they show any sign of life, regardless of prematurity or size. This includes what many other countries report as stillbirths. In Austria and Germany, fetal weight must be at least 500 grams (1 pound) to count as a live birth; in other parts of Europe, such as Switzerland, the fetus must be at least 30 centimeters (12 inches) long. In Belgium and France, births at less than 26 weeks of pregnancy are registered as lifeless.[4] And some countries don’t reliably register babies who die within the first 24 hours of birth. Thus, the United States is sure to report higher infant mortality rates. For this very reason, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which collects the European numbers, warns of head-to-head comparisons by country.”[5] However, all of the countries named adopted the WHO definition in the late 1980s or early 1990s.[6]

    other countries do such a bad job of reporting infant mortalities, and that’s the reason why we have been ranked 28th and 29th? is that your assertion, BS? so how do you really think we’re ranked, number 1?

    i accept there’s doubt about the accuracy of a global comparative ranking system, but we’re certainly not at the top, not when it comes to infant mortality rates, and not when it comes to the overall care we provide our fellow citizens.

    you are part of an obstructionist movement that wants to deny the majority what the majority wants, and that’s too bad. it’s hard enough to get the center/right dems to comply with the will of their constituents without shameless negators like you spewing sardonic bullshit.
