Looney tUNes

Thought for day: aren’t the leaders of the Republican Party just as looney as the leaders of Libya, Iran and Venezuela?

Now there is a totally ignorant statement.

  2. Big Swede

If that’s what you guys got out of the UN conference, a feeble attempt of humor, then I feel sorry for you.

Mostly because ya missed the revelation of Amad’s secret new plant.

Peter’s column in the Post widened my eyes.

    >>DID it surprise a single Post reader that Iran’s been hiding a big nuclear weapons development facility? It stunned our president when he learned about it months ago. Then he kept it secret from you.

Obama didn’t want you to know how much progress Iran had made. It’s an embarrassment.

And it raises the pressure on the White House to act — something this president’s squirming to avoid. But the Iranians have now realized we know, so they tipped it themselves.

Obama had no choice but to come clean.

Yesterday, he interrupted the G-20 summit to go public — before Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did. Flanked by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Britain’s dead man walking, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, our president offered more uselessly vague rhetoric in response to proof of a major “covert Iranian enrichment facility” and its implication.

    Obama’s statement amounted to, Ooooh, I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down . . . maybe . . . eventually . . . but not really . . . let’s talk . <<

But hey, why worry about that, when we can demonize right wing talkers.

You don’t know what I got out of the UN conference. Nor do you know what I missed or not.

As to the revelation of Iran’s nuclear progress, maybe you missed the part where it was going on during Bush’s waning days. I guess he missed that, along with the bursting of the bubble.

And since when did conservatives start paying any attention to the UN? Thought you all got over that back in your salad days of the shining city on the hill.

    • Lizard

so, swede, do you think obama isn’t being tough enough with iran? should he consider a preemptive strike? worked great in iraq, didn’t it. has he not proven his imperial mettle to you people yet? he was remote killing “arabs” on day four of his presidency, in pakistan. hell, he may even support a “surge” in the place where empires go to die. is that not good enough?

      • Big Swede

Hey, for years you been telling us, were’s the weapons on mass destruction?

How ironic, Bush couldn’t find any and we’re ignoring ones in plan sight.

        • Lizard

war with iran would be suicidal. the price in gas alone would take a horrible economic situation here and plunge us deeper. oh, and iran would fight back. swede, are you prepared to sacrifice yourself or your children to pacify persia?

if i were you, swede, i’d stay away from geopolitics; it doesn’t suit you. finding any conceivable way of criticizing the president is more your speed.

          • Big Swede

Liz, we’re not going to war with Iran, at least not with our leader.

But Israel is. The problem is they don’t have the capabilities that we do. So instead of a thoural job of weapon destruction we get a half assed one with a retaliatory strike on major regional refineries and shipping ports.

Israel a small country, the need or reliance on petroleum is miniscule compared to us.

            That’s your inevitable economic scenario.

            Sleep well.

          • Lizard

we would be drawn into it. if you haven’t noticed, unquestioning support of anything israel does is very much bipartisan.

swede, you seem to think if we did it ourselves, we would do a more “thoural job of weapon destruction”. that would be laughable if it wasn’t so psychotically wrong.

iran is a major player, with a degree of support from countries like russia, china, and brazil.

another factor you may not be aware of is this: america is no longer acting from a position of unchecked power anymore, partly because our economic meltdown and geopolitical misadventures have emboldened our global competitors to act against us.

          • Big Swede

I bet your happy ’bout the “unchecked power” thing. Doing the Rodney, we call it, “can’t we all just get along”.

Meanwhile tyrants are planning the deaths of thousands, if not millions, of innocents.

          • Lizard

do you know what would make me happy, swede? no war with afghanistan and iraq; no torturing and extrajudicial detention; no killing of our thousands and their hundreds of thousands

oh, and that precious real estate in manhattan where the towers once stood actually treated like a crime scene and vigorously investigated.

          • Big Swede

We’ll get right on that, Rosie.

          • Big Swede

Here’s the thoural(thorough) capabilities you find so laughable, Liz.

            http://www.barking-moonbat.com/index.php/weblog/comments-editor/12949

          • Lizard

that’s great bomb-porn, swede, but what exactly is it suppose to prove? of course we have the capability to take out nuclear facilities. so does israel. so what?

you just don’t get it, and that’s fine; lots of americans don’t get it, but they’ll figure it out eventually. war is no longer about keeping us safe. it’s about a global chessboard and the inter-elite struggle to secure resources, and believe me, those resources will not be equitably distributed, but hoarded by the corporate beneficiaries of war.

but i guess you’re okay with that.

  3. Pogo Possum

“. . . oh, and that precious real estate in manhattan where the towers once stood actually treated like a crime scene and vigorously investigated.”

What does that mean Lizard? Are you one of the fringe liberal left who think the attack on the World Trade Center was a US government conspiracy ?

    • Lizard

the intelligence world is a dark, interrelated world with some surprising overlap. you would have to be pretty naive to think the attacks were a complete surprise to the CIA/ISI/Mossad factions.

i guess i just think it’s important to look critically at an attack that has directly resulted in two costly wars in two countries that did not prove to be imminent threats to us.

      • Pogo Possum

Ahhhh…..so you think the CIA was in on the attack of the Twin Towers. Move over “Birthers”, the Left seems to have its share of crazy theories too.
