Every politician who legislates against domestic development of our oil and gas resources has blood on their hands.

    • JC

How about every politician who legislated for going to war with Iraq? They got blood on their hands too?

      • Big Swede

Would some of those war mongers, gotten your vote JC?

        • JC

          Nope.

          • Big Swede

Then you’d probably agree with these guys and the Major at Ft. Hood.

            That’s crazy talk Swedie.

          • Big Swede

Yeah, the Hood thing was crazy.

But I’m thinking you have more in common with the protesters than me.

          • I was thinking of getting into an argument with Swedy. I have healthy teeth, but decided to go have a root canal instead.

Swede – you’re a moving target that changes colors, disappears, reappears, links, disappears again, and then links again. Each link is only somewhat remotely in-some-alternate-universe tangential.

          • Big Swede

Yea, but I stay away from grassy knolls.

    • klemz

Really? You don’t see a middle ground between (or a third alternative to) drilling in ANWAR and illegal invasions? Hmmm.

  2. JByrd

All these “drill baby drill” folks better be prepared to set up a government-owned oil company, because, as it stands, all that domestic oil goes into the world market where foreign-dominated multinational oil companies will sell it to the highest bidder — probably China.

    I hate to say it, but I think it’s a mediocre commercial — a cookie-cutter, beltway-produced spot.

Sure, everything in the ad is accurate — Denny sold out to Big Energy ages ago. Nothing new there. And I relish any opportunity to showcase his shortcomings. But he’s an abomination on so many levels that this seems almost fabricated. The Montana connection is weak, and where’s the call to action? Denny has been so bad on so many issues closer to our hearts. We can do better.

I just don’t think this particular style and message appeals to Montanans.

“Montanans” are just like everyone else in every other state, and this kind of ad is very effective. It’s visual, has one simple point. If Rehberg defends himself against it, he only sinks deeper.

It’s a cheap shot. They same technique can be used against any politician in Washington who takes corporate money. That would be 99% of them. If they were to line up Denny and Max and Jon, and paint them all and make the point that the system is corrupt, then it would be a worthy ad.

Mark, I think these ads are effective at one thing: disenfranchising people from participating in politics, and voting.

After being inundated by slick TV spots from PACs, 527s and politicians, voters feel numb and powerless.

It’s a screwed up way to run a democracy.

  6. Thank you, very nice post. Sure you check to see you again.
