Wulfgar! on the Montana Congressional Race

by jhwygirl

In what is the first various-and-sundry-like post I’ve ever seen from one of Montana’s very best bloggers, Wulfgar! weighs in with his thoughts (and advice to Democrats and Republican’s alike) on the congressional primary races.

Interesting stuff he’s saying…and you know – and I am NOT saying this to be critical of anything – that kind of thinking is what makes Montana elections so unprecedented at times. Montana’s elections have pulled some whack results….and really, I know people who are considering doing pretty much what Wulfgar! kinda snarkily puts out there.

It’s an interesting perspective on the election.

I have some concern about this happening – there are a lot of serious legislative races that can not be left to such folly. I just hope people think carefully about the down-ballot races, too – because in a primary, you only get one party’s ballot.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep over any kind of cross over vote (in either party) impacting any major race in Montana, jhwyGirl.

I have heard these grand schemes proposed from people in both parties in various races over the years……”If we all just cross over and vote for the weakest candidate in the other party, out guy/gal can win.” In all the decades I have heard this strategy proposed, no one has ever shown me a race where it actually happened.

Almost everytime, the “cross over” strategy is spouted by amatures who know little about running political campaigns.

If “long time Republican veterans” have written Rehberg off as Gopher argues and if Denny is so dramatically vulnerable as many on this site have argued for months, doesn’t the necessity of organizing a cross over campaign to defeat him in the Primary counter these very same arguments?

i agree pogo. this is cynical disingenuous twisting of a right many have died to give us. voting is too sacred a thing to treat so shabbily. vote what you mean or don’t vote at all.

      • I don’t think Wulfgar! was actually advocating for people to do it…I hope I was clear about that.

I thought of it as more of a commentary on how MT elections can be whack.
