Billings Business Owner to Testify at Senate Finance Committee in Washington

by jhwygirl

Mainstream media will be all a-buzz with deficit/raising the debt ceiling talks this week, so don’t expect too much coverage on two bills that are of major interest to progressives (like me).

On Tuesday, Ms. Kris Carpenter, Founder/CEO, Sanctuary Spa and Salon in Billings will testify before the Senate Committee on Finance on “Complexity and the Tax Gap: Making Tax Compliance Easier and Collecting What’s Due“.

Hearings to look at the tax gap and tax complexity? Who doesn’t have something to say these days about that?

Interested citizens or groups have two weeks from the close of the hearing to submit comment.

Don’t forget – our very own Sen. Max Baucus is chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.

Also on Tuesday is a hearing before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary for The DREAM Act.

Yep. The Dream Act isn’t dead – and Sen. Durbin, it looks, is going to make sure of that.

I poked around that website and couldn’t find information on how to submit comment. If anyone else figures that out, please post that info in comments.

When it comes to DREAM who needs Durbin or for that matter congress.

    • good. it’s about time. i and about 88% of america would like to throw the entire current bunch of liars and worthless scoundrels in congress in the nearest landfill and back over them with a couple of d-10’s swede.

i would like to see obama go over their greedy little heads and pass an emergency budget too. one that requires wall street and their rich buddies to share in the sacrifice of getting this country back on its feet, rather than stealing earned benefits from social security and medicare from our seniors.

and since republican members of congress are willing to scuttle our economy for some political advantage in 2012, rather than pay our bills responsibly and put people back to work, they should be rounded up as traitors and jailed.

at this point the republicans in congress are more dangerous to working people, the seniors and the poor in this country than any member of al queda

  2. wow. our very own senator max baucus? you mean he’s chairing the hearings on taxes?

that should be a swell chance for the workers in this country to turn things around and right some wrongs. we could call it tax care reform……….
