Remind Me

Republicans got no one running the show up there and Democrats are just sitting around waiting for anyone to take the lead. Harry? Put what you got onto the Senate floor. Lead the debate. Lead a debate. Debate. Something. Anything.

At least make us think you all are actually earning that free pizza dinner it appears Boehner & crew enjoyed tonight on the taxpayer dime.

One of the things I’m wondering about is this: Didn’t Republcans, Rep. Denny Rehberg and the rest of the burgeoning pre-2010 tea party complain about voting on bills without 72-hours posting? Didn’t Rehberg refuse to vote on some sort of money/finance/budget bill because it was ‘4 inches thick and who can read this thing overnight?’??

I don’t know what the last Boehner bill scored, yet alone the content of it. Frankly – I don’t know what is in the Reid bill either.

Rehberg’s word isn’t worth crap and too bad Congress doesn’t have a public noticing requirement.

Hey, ya gotta pass it to see what’s in it.

  2. Frankly, the discussion is far to complex and necessary to pound through Congress in a few days. There is also a great deal you hyperbole and demagoguery going on. If Geithner was serious he would come clean with options. Zero Hedge shows us some ways the Fed could help (since they’ve already bailed out the banks maybe they could help the taxpayer?)

Secondly, the U.S. Treasury has something like $350 billion in student loan and Mortgage Backed Debt Obligations. The Fed could buy those under repurchase agreements (just like they do for banks) where the Treasury commits to buy them back after a debt agreement is done.

This is all political nonsense and the Administration, lacking the will to take default off the political table. is engaged in fiscal malpractice.

Fuck ’em all. This government isn’t worth keeping.

You’re right. Welcome to marginiville. The show must go on.

    heard that.

strange bedfellows this clusterfuck does make, eh.

  5. Lizard, I don’t think it’s strange at all. We all feel screwed even if we have different solutions.

There’ll be massive cuts to social spending, war spending remains sacrosanct, tax increases avoided.

Game, set, match. This Obama guy – he’s good. He’s real good. I think they’ll keep him on. He’s having a ‘successful’ presidency.

Johnson was the only one smart enough to get while the gettin’ was good. Nixon’s second term, Reagan for Carter, (snooze) Reagan’s 2nd siesta, Poppy Bush dumped for our first boomer, and Clinton’s self-im molation all make a good case for a one-term limit (6 years?) for the U.S. Presidency. Win or lose, it’s over for Obama. Another library, oh joy.

It was a scene out of the Twilight Zone yesterday as I was listening to C-SPAN while working. After all the bluster, and the vote on Boehner’s bill was suspended, they move on to… wait for it… naming Post Offices!!!
