Liz’s Weekly Poetry Series: Wake The Fuck Up!

by lizard

The WAKE THE FUCK UP ad featuring Samuel L. Jackson and a cute little white girl “wide-eyed and awake” is making the rounds. See for yourself:

It’s funny and engaging and very much needed to prod enthusiasm, which is building, according to the polls.

The ad’s success is a play on the of-course-it-was-going-to-be successful book titled GO THE FUCK TO SLEEP, narration: Samuel L. Jackson.

This week’s poem, written late last night, is inspired by the fucking brilliance of using the word fuck in new and creative ways. Enjoy!

day after day
the battle is waged
with vacuous ads
and ridiculous claims

Heritage health care
for Mitt was the shit
until Barack gave his nod
and the right threw a fit

each side has its knee
and they know how it jerks
Bush wars are bad
but Obama wars work

Obama kills righteously
and Libertarian gall
has no place at the table
no, no place at all

because glorious bullets
kill terrorists dead
like our number one enemy
straight in the head

then dumped in the sea
warming up every year
but that fact’s a drag
dead ragheads mean cheer

wake the fuck up
go the fuck to sleep
and if you have trouble
count fucking sheep

then get ready to vote
for one or the other
because this is Democracy
you dumb motherfuckers

    T’was the night before elections,
    And all thru’ the town,
    Tempers were flaring
    Emotions ran up and down.

    I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap,
    Had shut off the TV,
    tired of political crap.

    When all of a sudden,
    There arose such a noise,
    I peered out my window,
    Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet,
    They wanted my pay
    To hand out to others
Who had not worked a day!

    He snatched up my money,
    And quick as a wink,
    Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink.

    He then rallied his henchmen
    Who were pulling his cart.
I could tell they were out
    To tear my country apart!

    ‘On Fannie, on Freddie,
    On Biden and Ayers!
    On Acorn, on Pelosi’
    He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause,
And as they flew out of sight,
I heard him laugh at a nation
Who wouldn’t stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
    on this one final note…
If you dont want more socialism
    The get out and vote!

if you read your poem out loud, you’ll hear places where you’re cramming syllables, like in the 4th line of your first stanza.

      you can do better.

      • JC

Hey, it must be perfect as it is… he’s already got 113,000 hits on google for the opening stanza!

You mean BJ didn’t build it? He stole it? And he got 5 stars for cut and paste plagerism? Man those Repos stay true to form.

          Heh heh Mitt Romney.

Rebuttal to Samuel (stolen from Budge)

  3. hope you got a big stick, swede.

    • Big Johansson

Us earth haters carry oil pipes for bats.

      • Steve W

BJ, that rebuttal is as lame as Romney.

      • Dave Budge

Yeah, really lame. Kill lists, targeting citizens without due process, drone attacks, warrantless wire-taps. Really lame.

        • Steve W

Maybe for you Dave the subject makes it a real weighty and well produced piece of propaganda Or is the fact you posted it on your blog lend is special artistic merit, in your opinion?

It’s as lame as Romney is.

I’m voting for Jill Stein. She is the only candidate to specifically and repeatedly repudiate empire.

But anyone who claims they are voting for Romney (like BJ has) and then try to tell you it’s because they are opposed to …”kill lists, targeting citizens without due process, drone attacks, warrantless [sic] wire-taps” is “Really lame.”

“…fool me once, shame on — … — shame on you. Fool me — …. — You can’t get fooled again.”

          Yes. Lame.

Here’s more lame, from the same lame asses.

          http://reason.com/reasontv/2012/09/05/atlas-shrugged-part-ii-theatrical-traile

Ha ha ha hah ha. You guys crack me up.

Your devotion to what was really a pretty dumb ass book (Atlas Shrugged) and the personality cult of Ayn Rand reminds me of Timmy McVey and his fixation on that book he read as being some kind of uber road map to “right living.”

          Lame.

        • Dave Budge

My devotion to Ayn Rand? Good one! Except it’s pretty wrong. I think if you really followed my writing you’d see that I speak more highly of John Rawls than I ever have about Rand. But you’re the kind of guy whose first instinct is to put people in boxes. Small thinking from a small mind.

          • Steve W

Boxes? Boxes? I don’t need no stinking boxes!

i was just ridiculing your uncreative buddies over at Ayn Rand productions.
