Liz’s Weekly Poetry Series: Frank, Form

by lizard

CAConrad’s the Book of Frank (Wave Books, 2009) is not recommended reading for everyone. If you want to know a bit about it, you can read this interview: poetry will not apologize.

For this week’s poetry installment, I have chosen a selection from the Book of Frank, and to compliment that poem, a message to the watchers their presence known.

Don’t worry about what that might mean. Enjoy!

“I’m here for the show” the man said
looking under Frank’s shirt for the door

“I’m no theater” Frank said

a line formed

must he admit them all?

many had umbrellas

a blind woman
waited with
her dog

“it’s gonna be a great show” someone said
“but when’s he gonna let us in?”

Frank’s tears began to fall

someone ripped his doors open

they filled him for an hour

the form waits
for filling
for he who pours
into space
the old order is broken
she sees
he who droplets
then runs
say form is a gun
say he pours his love
into death—
the gods the stars form
above our heads
all squint
curious eyes
at the singular
form still waiting
for all of us
to come
