even though the legislation coming out of helena stinks i was hoping that at least the tea party led GOP montana legislators would continue to march themselves in lock step into the abyss with montana voters in 2012. but it appears that a few level-headed individuals are mavericky enough to withstand the tea party kool-aid. good for them and good for montana. unlike tea party madhatters sen. dave lewis seems to have a grip on the pulse of this issue with a compromise bill to avoid complete nullification of a very popular citizens initiative.
now, that being said, avoiding crappy legislation is hardly what i would call making positive steps toward fixing our economy or “getting jobs for montana.”
for more in depth analysis, once again, pogie has a much better take on this. his website intelligent discontent is absolutely the zenith of reportage of all things helena these days. bookmark it and read it at least twice a day. the guy is more prolific than a mystery writer locked overnight in starbucks.
for an interesting take on the great montana legislature fail i found Montanafesto particularly entertaining and informative as well….. and surprise – it is written by a republican! now i know what mr benson (goof) has been driving at lately.

Just wanted to put out a reminder that the Big Sky Film Festival started last night and should be in full swing over the course of the weekend and through next week. There are a lot of interesting films being shown… so if you’re in Missoula go on down to the Wilma and enjoy some great cinema… you might even learning something.
